I really appreciate all the information and proof of the Armenian genocide on this website. I find it really sad how strong the hatred is still for the Armenians by the Turks. All the Armenians want is for the Turkish government to admit thier atrocities and to apologize. How else can things be healed between the people. I have heard of the Armenian genocide but I knew nothing of it. Today, when I heard about the protests in Turkey against the resolution passed in US parliament, I decided to learn some more. I will not sleep tonight. My heart is torn and I can hardly see what I'm typing as my eyes are so full of tears. What makes one man hate another so much? This past weekend I've been reading the book titled Auschwitz (an account of the horror of the German extermination/concentration camp) and I think, above all, the most important thing is for people to KNOW the history of the past and MOST IMPORTANTLY to take ACTION for the course of the future! In Africa, in the Middle East, brutal genocides massacres, hate crimes, you name it are occurring at this very moment. Even in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA I hear HATE preached EVERY SINGLE DAY I HAVE BEEN LIVING. There are so many dimensions to something as atrocious as genocide that you can't help but to look somewhere deep inside you, your heart, and QUESTION question question repeatedly WHAT is rationality? WHERE is reasoning? There is NONE in the face of brute power, hate, discrimminatory judgement, self-seeking possesion, tyrannical control (or a lack of any sense of control), biasness, baseness, or crudeness -- "civil" human history really amazes me that given even our intelligent capacities compared to that of primates, we treat each other like the most primitive of beings and I cannot believe the extent of our inhumanity. As a north european having had the pleasure to a have both turks and armenians as friends since childhood I know that there are good persons (mostly) and bad (some few) among both of them. As far as I am concerned it is very easy to see what every turk should do, but I think it is much more difficult what the armenians should do. I think that Turkey should accept and appologize for the genocide, but I also think that it is very important that the turks of today do not have guilt feelings about those acts comitted by their ancestors. These are acts which where NOT committed by any turk of today and I think that a turk should be able to hold up his/her head high and look into the eyes of an armenian and say "Yes, the genocide happened and it was wrong and my government has recognized it and appologized for it." After that no armenian can accuse that turk for anything at all, since he/she is not guilty of something he/she has not done. In my opinion that turk shold be proud of himself. Sooner, Turks must admit the genocide done by the Ottomons.
